To practice paramedicine or use the title of Paramedic in Alberta, all Emergency Medical Responders (EMR), Primary Care Paramedics (PCP) and Advanced Care Paramedics (ACP) must hold an active practice permit from the Alberta College of Paramedics.

All regulated members must adhere to the College’s Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics .

  • The Standards of Practice outline the parameters for appropriate practice of paramedicine in Alberta.
  • The Code of Ethics outline the professional conduct that is expected of all regulated members of the College.

Alberta practice is based on the 2011 National Occupational Competency Profiles (NOCP) for Paramedics.
