It’s a bit hard to believe that it is the end of August already I am still waiting for a warm stretch without any rain! I sincerely hope that you all have had an opportunity to enjoy some time with family and friends this summer.
At the end of April, we distributed a survey requesting feedback on amendments to the Standard of Practice (1.5), Protected Professional Titles. I would like to thank everyone who took the time to review the amendments and provide thoughtful and constructive feedback. We received many suggestions for language improvements or areas for clarity and made some adjustments accordingly. I’m pleased to share this new Standard has been approved by Council and is effective as of today, August 31.
For those who may not know and as a reminder, these amendments are one of the steps in moving forward with the Critical Care Paramedic (CCP) designation in Alberta.
All of this to say, progress takes time and I’m proud of the progress we have made but can appreciate that things may feel stagnant. I want to emphasize that work is being done behind the scenes even when you cannot see it. We hope to see all of these pieces come together soon.
Before closing, I would like to remind everyone that renewal is underway and to get your application in with as much time as possible. Every year we have members who wait until the last minute and end up with late fees due to unforeseen circumstances. You have from August 1 until 4 pm on September 30 every year and should make sure to plan accordingly. This includes getting your Continuing Competence credits completed ahead of time.
If you are looking for courses to meet your requirements, our Learning Management System (LMS) has three options available to you. You can access the LMS through the member portal. We also share a list of free and online courses available on our website.
