We would like to extend a warm welcome to our newest regulated Council member, Joe Acker who began his three-year term this month.
About Joe
Joe Acker is an Advanced Care Paramedic working casually with EHS, Alberta in the Edmonton Zone. His career spans clinical, educational and executive roles across Canada and Australia.
Clinically, he has worked as an Intensive Care Paramedic in New South Wales and a flight paramedic with STARS in Edmonton. In education, he taught in the ACP program at NAIT and served as a university lecturer in undergraduate and postgraduate paramedicine in Australia.
His executive leadership background includes serving as Chief of EMS for Edmonton prior to the AHS transition, Director of Operations in Vancouver, Provincial Director of Clinical and Professional Practice in British Columbia and Chief Executive of Ambulance Tasmania in Australia.
Currently CEO of the EMS Global Foundation, Joe joined the Council of the Alberta College of Paramedics to leverage his diverse experience across frontline practice, clinical regulation, university education and health system governance to support members, elevate professional standards and advance paramedicine across Alberta.
