CEO Message: New Registration Year and LMS Updates
Welcome to the new registration year, everyone! This year has flown by and it’s hard to believe we are already done our renewal period and gearing up for the holidays. Thank you to everyone who submitted their renewal application on time. We have begun the new registration year with just over 8,900 members and we’re pleased to report this is another increase from last October. These numbers have continued to increase every year, which is a positive trend.
In 2024 we launched the Learning Management System (LMS) as a place for members to find free, accessible and online educational content which can also be utilized for Continuing Education credits. It has been a goal of both Council and the College to expand the learning opportunities for our members, and this has been an avenue we have been happy to develop.
Since its launch, we have added three courses to the LMS:
- The Regulatory Knowledge Course, worth 12 CE credits
- Pain Management: Methoxyflurane (Penthrox), worth 6 CE credits
- Documentation for Prehospital Professionals, worth 24 CE credits
Over the last registration cycle, the LMS had over 4,000 course completions totaling more than 62,100 credits earned for those learners.
We have also received very positive feedback in the Documentation for Prehospital Professionals’ course completion survey. Over 99% of the respondents found the course clear and relevant, while many voiced that the lawyer’s professional insights in the course provided a valuable understanding of the importance of proper documentation. Additionally, this feedback has identified some areas of the course that members found confusing and our LMS team has been able to modify this.
These are incredibly encouraging statistics and show that the LMS is already utilized by many of you but gives even more room for us to grow.
Next year, we will be releasing another course on preceptor training. This will cover topics on effective precepting, adult learning styles, communication and feedback, navigating challenges and sustainable practice.
We hope that each of you will continue to explore the LMS and expand your knowledge on the topics provided. As always, we are always looking at new course topics and if you have suggestions, please email LMS@ABparamedics.com.
I wish you all the best in this new registration year and throughout the holiday season.
Kindly,
Wendy Dugas, CEO
