While the incidents of complaints related to a regulated member is low; occasionally there are reasons why a patient, member of the public, employer, other healthcare practitioner or stakeholder must submit a complaint. This process is heavily dictated by the Health Professions Act, and is carried out with all the seriousness of a legal suit. The person making the complaint does not pay to submit a complaint and does not require a lawyer. The regulated member’s liability insurance or employer’s insurance will typically cover them through this process.
