It’s not really clear why regulators were labelled colleges – as it can be confusing that a licensing body shares the same moniker as an education facility – but in Alberta, colleges are also regulatory bodies.
The Alberta College of Paramedics is the regulatory body for all paramedic professionals. Advanced Care Paramedics, Primary Care Paramedics and Emergency Medical Responders are the only paramedic professionals entitled to practice paramedicine in Alberta.
