The Canadian Organization of Paramedic Regulators (COPR) is seeking experienced Emergency Medical Responder subject experts (EMR SMEs) to support examination development and maintenance as contracted providers. COPR examination contracted providers are instrumental in developing, reviewing, and maintaining the COPR examination banks. This is a remunerated, contract model, whereby SMEs commit to creating a designated number of new items per quarter in each calendar year.

By participating, you will learn about the rigor built into the examination development process, how to write a pan-Canadian question, and learn about how a newly developed question goes through rigorous process to become operational on a COPR examination.

Training is provided by COPR’s examination partner, Meazure Learning. Qualifications for this role include:
  • Be currently registered and/or licensed as and EMR in a Canadian jurisdiction.
  • Experience working as an EMR.
  • Be familiar with jurisdictional regulations and commonly accepted standards of practice for entry-to-practice EMRs.
  • Ability to view EMR practice from a national perspective and apply this to the development of the examination.
  • Be self-directed and able to complete monthly tasks remotely by computer.
  • Be able to accept feedback and training on work developed.
  • Work with other members of the team.
  • Willingness to travel a minimum of once per year for item development activities.
If this sounds like you and you would like the opportunity to work with EMRs from across Canada, please send a resume to Tammy Leach at exam@copr.ca.
