The Competence Committee has approved the following Heart and Stroke Foundation CPR and BLS courses for Continuing Education (CE) credits.
- Heartsaver CPR / AED (6 credits)
- Heartsaver CPR / AED + Child + Infant (15 credits)
- Heartsaver CPR / AED Level C (15 credits)
- BLS Provider (12 credits)
- BLS Renewal (9 credits)
- BLS Instructor (24 credits) (Instructor certification – cannot be used as instructing hours)
- BLS Blended Provider (In class & self-paced combination) (12 credits)
- BLS Blended Provider Renewal (In class & self-paced combination) (12 credits)
It is important to note that many employers use the Heart and Stroke training modules for CPR and BLS. If a regulated member’s certificate of completion has the Heart and Stroke Foundation branding/logo, the correlated CE course can be claimed for credits.
Is CPR or BLS training required for registration and/or renewal?
The College received many questions this past renewal about if CPR or BLS training was a requirement for renewal. The College does not require CPR or BLS training as a registration or renewal requirement. However, most employers require valid certification for continued employment.
